Support WCA

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, friend or alumni of Wilmington Christian Academy, we want your association with WCA to last a lifetime. WCA is an amazing place and our staff is here to serve you. Our office is committed to building the assurance of annual and long-term financial support for WCA. As strong as the programs and facilities are at Wilmington Christian Academy, it is you, our friends, who are the greatest assets.

WCA relies on enthusiastic support from its families, faculty and staff, and our many friends across the country. Gifts to WCA embody their commitment in a meaningful and tangible way. Every gift to Wilmington Christian Academy makes a major difference, whether large or small. It signifies your confidence in Wilmington Christian as a school worthy of your support. Your gift ensures that teachers and programs have the resources they need to provide WCA students with an exceptional education that develops the whole student. Mind. Body. Spirit.

WCA is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization; therefore gifts to the school are tax deductible.  If you would like to make a gift, please contact Barren Nobles at (910) 791-4248, extension 111.

The Annual Fund

By giving to the Annual Fund, you are able to make an impact on every aspect of school life-academics, athletics, fine arts and technology.  Each year, our Annual Fund is essential because it supports the entire school, PK3 through 12th grade.

The Annual Fund exists to help bridge the financial gap between what is covered by tuition and the actual cost of education and activities offered at WCA.  With your support, we continue to hire the best teachers, and offer outstanding academic, athletic, fine arts and spiritual programs that provide your child a well-rounded, balanced education, while keeping costs down.

Every gift is appreciated – no gift is too small.  Please help WCA continue to be one of the best private schools in the South-East by donating to the Annual Fund.  Your contribution will enrich our programs and help our school continue to be the best environment in which your child can excel and reach their full, God-given potential.

The Scholarship Fund

The Scholarship Fund was established in order to provide financial assistance to families who desire but may not be able to afford a quality, Bible-based education for their children.  The Foundation is dependent on churches', businesses', organizations' and individuals' gifts in order to provide this financial assistance.

Sometimes WCA families experience something unexpected during the school year which puts them in a tough financial spot. While there is annual financial aid through FACTS, we are seeking to meet a different set of needs with our “short-term needs” Scholarship Fund. This fund is to help parents who had no way of knowing they would encounter a short term crisis in the midst of the school year and just need a short time (1 – 2 months) to get back on their feet. The Short Term Needs Scholarship is a way for you to give a tax deductible, non-designated gift which will help selected families get through a short term struggle and resume their regular payments.

Donations to the Scholarship Fund are tax-deductible as we are recognized as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service.  Donations can be made annually, quarterly, monthly, or as a one time donation. You may choose to give stock, mutual funds, and CD's or even set up a Charitable Trust instead of cash.

Endowment & Planned Giving

As a supporter of Wilmington Christian Academy, you demonstrate you care about our mission.  But what happens to your support when you pass on?  If you remember WCA in your will or revocable trust, you leave a legacy proclaiming your faith in WCA to do work that you value, far into the future. The purpose of WCA's endowment is to glorify God by providing resources to sustain Biblical, academic, athletic, and artistic excellence at WCA for generations to come.

Contributions to the endowment may be given in honor of special teachers, students, relatives, or other members of the community. Gifts may also be targeted for specific purposes, such as: scholarships and financial aid; excellence in teaching; library; the performing arts; athletics; building and campus maintenance; and more.

Gifts of appreciated stock or other assets, bequests, and charitable gift annuities are all ways to make a tremendous, long-term impact on our school and mission. If you are interested in this type of giving, please consult your financial or tax advisor for the benefits of each charitable donation to determine what best suits your financial situation.

Restricted & Matching Gifts

Many companies will match the contributions which employees (sometimes even retired employees) make to IRS-recognized philanthropic and educational groups.

You can double - sometimes triple - your gift through a matching gift program. Simply enclose the company's matching gift form, which you can obtain from your Human Resources department, along with your check and mail to Wilmington Christian Academy.

(Note that matching gifts do not increase your personal charitable donation.)

Gifts in Kind

Wilmington Christian Academy appreciates gifts-in-kind. For example, donations such as equipment and services often can be used by the school. The donor, through appraisal or market comparisons, determines the fair market value of the gift. From musical instruments to library books to carpentry tools and computer equipment, if you have an item that you think the school might be able to utilize, please contact the Advancement Office or the specific area of the school that may benefit from this type of donation.

Gifts of Stock or other Appreciated Assets
Gifts of stock or other appreciated assets such as bonds or mutual fund shares can be transferred to Wilmington Christian Academy. This is a way to donate, while also saving you capital gains tax and allowing you to take a charitable deduction on your federal income tax for the market value of securities at the time of transfer.

Real Estate
Gifts of real estate, including land, commercial and residential properties, may offer exceptional tax benefits for donors while supporting Wilmington Christian Academy. You may call the Business Office at (910)791-4248 ext. 111 with information on your proposed donation.

The Kids Campus (Capital Project)

Wilmington Christian Academy exists by God's blessings and provision, frequently coming in the form of donations from families and friends. We depend on your private voluntary donations to support various capital campaign efforts throughout our school. We do not ask for support lightly. We know that parents are paying tuition and have numerous other demands on financial resources; however, your donations are an essential part of our strong foundation, and provide the necessary financial means so that we may grow campuses and facilities to better serve current and prospective families.

In order to complete capital campaigns, it is necessary to raise additional money from those who share and believe in the mission of Christian Academy, which is to "develop students with a heart for God."

We also thank you for your continued prayers for the completion of the Kids Campus, as our goal is to provide the necessary facilities as directed by Him so that each child may develop their God-given abilities and talents to the fullest extent possible for His glory and honor. The Kids Campus is a $4.4 million project; currently friends of the school have given $450,000 toward the project.

At Wilmington Christian Academy, we believe that our Heavenly Father is the great provider for all of our needs. We strongly believe prayer is an essential part of our pursuit of academic excellence, unveiling the course He has for our school. Your support through prayer is vitally important to our stability and growth.

Specifically, we ask for prayer in the following areas for the 2012-2013 school year:

  • Pray that Wilmington Christian Academy, first and foremost, continues to grow in the direction God has for us, continuing to minister the truth and sovereignty of Jesus to our students, faculty, staff and community.
  • Pray for those who are in leadership roles within our schools and making difficult decisions daily.
  • Prayerfully consider including Wilmington Christian Academy in your family's giving plan.

Donate the greatest gift of all—your time. Perhaps the greatest need of Wilmington Christian Academy is finding dedicated volunteers who commit themselves to seeing the vision and mission of our school fulfilled.

Ways to get involved:

  • Join one of our special event committees through the PTF.
  • Become an ambassador to help us advance our ministry through outreach and education.
  • Become a volunteer leader for one of our capital projects to help generate support within our community.

Your time, talents and treasures are extremely valuable to us; they have a great purpose in the advancement of our mission. Thank you!

Grandparents Club

Grandparents play a very important role in a child's life.  WCA encourages students' grandparents to attend any of our programs throughout the year.  There are special grandparent days for different grade levels when grandparents are invited to visit their grandchild's classroom.  Grandparents may also help WCA and their grandchildren in the following ways:

  • Pray for the WCA student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Volunteer to help with various classroom and/or school activities.
  • Serve as resource persons in the classrooms.
  • Contribute generously through financial support.  This can be done through WCA's Annual Fund or the Scholarship Fund.  Information about this fund can be obtained by contacting any of the school's offices.

We are most grateful for all types of support offered by our precious grandparents.

If you would like to receive WCA's weekly newsletter, please contact us to be added to our mailing list. We want to help you get involved in the school.

Simple Ways to Support WCA

Used and Worn-out Shoes

Yes, you read that correctly, used and worn-out shoes. This is proof that one man's trash is another man's treasure.

We are looking for lady's and girl's worn-out shoes, the more worn, the better. We receive money from a company that performs product research on which part of the shoe "wears out" first. The best shoes for the research are dress shoes and dress flats, but any shoe is helpful.

When donating your used shoes, please bag each pair of shoes with the names of the wearers attached. The researchers track wear patterns and style changes over time from the same individuals. If you are uncomfortable attaching the names, just place them in bags.
